    Default Start saving ....

Your 3rd gear syncromesh is most likely failing. It's the bane of all V6/MTX contours.

Start saving for a trans rebuild.

you can get a new one for about $800 or you can get a bulletproof awesome all the upgraded parts one for a little more than twice that.

Probably at least $1500 with R&R the trans and the parts to rebuild.

Before worrying about overhauling the trans, try a fluid change. It may help.

Double clutching into 3rd helps alot. If you HAVE to shift into 3rd at higher rpms (merging onto the highway, etc), then definitely double clutch! This is what many do (including me) until they have the time to repair my 3rd gear syncro.

To rebuild it correctly? Or to hack it? Email Terry if you want someone that knows the mtx-75 intimately. secondline at ameritech.net Have him put an LSD in it as well. Most places will put in a Focus single blocker since double blocker 3rds are very hard to come by. If someone puts in that single you'll trans will be coming out again very soon.
