sounds like your resolution is too low. 17" monitor you should have atleast 1024x768

i've found on slower computers ( i have a p4 1.6), firefox is a complete pig. Especially when dealing with embedded video and multimedia. i've used it for a while, but now am on IE 7.0. IE runs much faster.

Well start with the basics, do you have your browser window maximized? (click on the square button in the upper right.)

Do you have your text size set too large? In Internet Explorer 6.0 you can change the text size in the View menu under Text Size.

Also as others have mentioned, check your resolution. If you have a 17" monitor, you should run at least 1024x768 (horizontal pixels x vertical pixels), 1280x1024 is better if your eyes are good. You can go to this page to see what resolution you are running: http://sole.hsc.wvu.edu/portal/user/...&bhcp=1#detail

Another thing you can try: If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel (in between the left and right buttons) then you can hold ctrl and roll the scroll wheel back and forth to change the text size on the fly. This only effects web browsers tho..just another thing to try out.
