Default Silver 9005 not really bright for me.

Okay here's the thing, my 9005 silverstar mod isn't bright on the roads for me as everoyne elses for some reason, and here's why I think so:

The tabs on my headlights are nearly gone, The top one on the passenger is gone, and both on driver side are gone, i've improvised and uses washers + screws with bases to kinda get them really close.

Secondly, even though I aim them using hte levels, they don't seem to light the road, rather they can reach very far distances in front of me. I assume that horizontal aiming is unaffected by the clips being broken but I checked them to see if they were perfect the |> arrow...the | of hte arrow was at 0. I then every day try and tweak them at night though I can never find COMPLETELY flat ground. I aim them too low and I can't see enough infront of me, but when driving I can light up the rear bumper of any car plus if no one is in front of me I can light up the signs ahead of me.

I've polished the lenses with meguairs, i've wetsanded them numerous times during the summer,

only thing I can think of is hte bulbs not fitting snugly but I'm sure that's not it because I've put an extra o-ring around them to help with fittament. I mean going UP a hill is a little brighter just before I hit the incline so I mean are my lights aimed too high still? Do I need replacement headlights to correct the problem?

If going uphill is brighter, then you're having an issue with the aim on your lights. My 9005's light the road up plenty, as long as they're aimed right. I don't really know of anything you can do to fix your aiming issue other then to get new housings. Un-aimed headlights can be annoying/hazardous to other drivers. Especially if it gets brighter while going uphill, means your lights are too high if I'm thinking correctly.

i agree with above assessment. i also have a '98 mystique. my highs in the lows mod lights up the road way out front like daylight! i will admit, after install i did have to do some careful aiming......
