Thread: Exhaust suggetions please

  1. Default Exhaust suggetions please

Whats up everyone, im kinda new to this forum but not new to owning a CSVT. I own a 2000 CSVT, Silver with midnight blue interior and it is #339 of 2150. Right now I dont have much done to this vehical because when I purchased it, it seems the previous owner wanted to make a "rice burner" out of it. I just put a carbon fiber cowl hood on it and it is set up with a weapon R intake with heat shield (which is going to be switched out with a custom K&N).

What this post is really about is what everyone thinks is the best full cat back exhaust system for this car, or a custom cat back exhaust. I am looking for good sounds, high flow, and a decent horse power gain. I am not the racing type, so maximum horsepower gain is not nessecary, but on the other hand engine peformance is key to me. I have checked thru the forums and have seen people using trubenz cats with magnaflow or borla exhaust, also have seen Bosal and bassani systems. I dont know much about any of these systems and I would like to here from people at this forum from their personal experience about these types of exhaust systems. I would really like to buy a complete set, but if it is best to by seperately and customize it, I will. I definately need the new pipes, my stock exhaust pipes are rusted!

So please any help would be benefitial and I appreciate any and all suggestions!! Thanks

1.Headers for $200-250 from msds. There is a fair amount of work to put these on but they are the best bolt on mod for our cars period.

    2. Trubendz high flow y-pipe, If you don't mind the rasp go without a cat.

3.Remove the stock resonator on the stock exhaust. The stock rear mufflers flow just fine. If you want to change those out you can. But you won't notice that much of a difference.

These mods will increase sound dramatically and give your car a good
    14-18whp gain.

Yes if you remove your resonator, please place something its place to reduce rasp and drone. Even a cherry bomb or glasspack would be good enough.

I removed the resonator and replaced it with a magnaflow XL3 oval muffler and did away with the stock mufflers in the rear. This matched with a good flowing y-pipe and cat gave me quite a bit of increase in performance and a very nice sound with little to no rasp. I have been told by many that it sounds like a modified Mustang GT exhaust.

    headers hands down.

follow with an optimized stock y-pipe, test pipe with high flow cat and then any trubendz 2.5 exhaust

I'd go MSDS headers with a true dual setup. There was a GP a while back but i'm not sure if it is still available or not.

I've got Weapon-R headers and Y-pipe (not available any more), stock cat, a thrush resonator in place of the stock, and dynomax mufflers in place of the stock ones. It sounds really good. I don't know how the hp compares to full systems though.

Be ready for it to be loud if you run true duals with headers...

Especially if you don't run any cats...

I have... and if you don't have cats or resonators with mufflers. Then its too loud and raspy. I'm still trying to piece my tru-duals together right now.

All i got is the 2inch pipes and flex pipes and mufflers with h-pipe.

I need, cats and resonators. Muffler style resonators. Then i can weld everything up. Maybe by next year it will be done
