I may be able to purchase a '95 Contour Duratec pretty cheap. It has a newer BAT suspension kit, dual exhaust (custom), CAI from a Cougar, and other little goodies. The car is in great shape, but I was told that the trans is shot and that the cat converters are clogged (130k miles). It has failed inspection and been sitting ever since (close to a year now). Anyone think it is worth fixing or just taking the "goodies" off of it. The parts could be used for my '98 or '00 Tours, but I would hate to junk such a nice car.

well if its not the main cat that's clogged a good gutting / mil eliminators will get it through inspection most likely. if it is the main you could swap the cat from one of your other contours just for the inspection. (and gut that too.)

The trans though, that depends on whether or not you can find a cheap tranny for it and whether or not you can swap it in yourself or have to pay. (judging by the fact the trans is shot im gonna guess its an auto? and so probably not cheap, unfortunately.)

Yes, ATX trans. I can do the work myself it just might take awhile. I haven't even looked into finding a replacement ATX as of yet. I still have to convince the seller to sell it at a low price. That is the only way I'll buy it.

Oh it runs alright. Sounds pretty good w/ the custom exhaust. Looks good w/ the lowered suspension, too. Still, I'd only offer a couple hundred w/ the trans. condition.

thats what i was getting at. that and it has a dead ATX,if it was a dead mtx i'd offer a bit more. but i'm partial

Dead tranny? 1995? Yes, anything more than a couple of hundred bucks is too much.
