    Default New CEG'er

Hello fellow CEG'ers!!! I am from MN. I have a 2000 Mystique Sport, 2.0 VCT, ATX. It has been a pretty good car for me. It has its issues. Such as the fuel pump issue. Where it leans out after taking a left hand corner when the fuel level is low. But mine will do it even when it has over half a tank. Is this a common issue with the cars? Does the fuel pump slowly go out or is it just a dirty strainer? Im planning on just getting a new pump and cleaning my fuel tank out. Other than that my motor runs great. I have recently done the timing belt. Which actually was a really easy fix. I have had the car for almost a year now and thats really the only problem i have had where I could not drive my car. It has died a couple times from the fuel pump issue. But I found if you shake the car a lil bit it will start back up. Its beats sitting on the side of the rode. I first came across CEG a few months back. When my timing belt broke. The how-tos helped out alot. Now Im looking at trying to get a little bit more horsepower out of my 2.0. I know I wont be able to get much more out of it. But every little bit counts. Any tips on whats a good place to start. Probably a new intake. But im looking forward to talking with everyone. Keep your tires on the rode.

Welcome to CEG! There's a few things that you can do to get some more horsepower of your 2.0. I just installed a TRUE cold air intake on my '96 'Stique. Wasn't that easy of a job, but I got it done. Best bet would be a short ram intake. You can get a new exhaust 2.5" is optimal size for our motors. Not really a huge market for the Contour/Mystique Zetecs. Some parts can be swapped from a Focus Zetec, but not much. UDPs, Exhaust, intake, some superchargers and turbos.

We like hearing that you have used the search feature. And, that you were able to fix your car by using one of the many how-to's posted. Excellent!

Thanks for all the help. I will hopefully be posting some pics soon. My Mystique is completely stock. The motor is mint. No burning oil. It only has the fuel pump issue. It has been a good car though.
