Passenger side door handle doesn't work anymore

It used to work if you pulled hard and lifted up on the door.. now it just hardly does work ,if at all... which isn't good because my driver's side door has no handle whatsoever.

I was having trouble opening my driver door. Same thing if I pulled right and stars aligned it popped.

There is a plastic bushing on the end of the rod from the door handle that was worn. It wasn't pushing up on the door opening mechanism enough.

I took the door panel off grabbed the rod with my hand and put a small bend in it to make the effective length of the rod slightly shorter. Works fine now every time.
