Thread: Hey

  1. Default Hey

Hello, my name is kyle i'm from around dayton ohio and i have a 97 contour v6. I just bought it a few days ago and i believe it needs a head gasket change..yay! I also have a 91 240sx with a swapped sr20det pushing around 275 horse. Of course the 240 is uncomfortable, loud, and is horrible in the snow. therefore i bought the contour for a comfortable daily driver and i hope alot of you can help me out and show me in the right direction here.

    again hey everyone

Welcome........I'm considered new here too! BTW might look at that water pump first before replacing the head gasket....

Welcome. Yeah, what he said! Why do you think you need a new headgasket?

well.... I burn the coolant level from max to min in about 2-3 days and i have quite a bit of oil in my coolant and no leaks on the ground whatsoever.
I'm gonna check compression just to be sure and so i dont have to change both of them at the same time

Yes, that sounds like a headgasket issue. Do the el cheapo headgasket test.

Well, since I can't post anywhere else for some reason, I guess I will talk about it here....

I checked the compression and it came back 190-200psi in all 6 cylinders, plus the plugs looked fine. I still have oil in my coolant. i guessing i have a cracked head? does anyone have any experience here? which one usually goes first?
