Thread: Hello All!

    Talking Hello All!

I was 17 when the 98 CSVT came out..and drooled since then. I am now 27 living an Naples FL (hoping soon to move to Miami!) and while I have not yet been in financial position to build my first "keeper" car I am putting some dough into my CSVT because I LOVE IT!!!!

I bought my black 1998.5 CSVT at 127 miles for what I though was a pretty decent deal. I am a Ford guy but not a hater.

At 130k my bone stock 2.5L spun a rod bearing. I had the motor dis-assembled and renewed 1 rod and 2 pistons at a local repair shop. 960 miles later it spun another bearing, bent a rod, destroyed a piston (#5) and punched a big whole in the block flooding in with coolant and wasting everything in the motor. Luckily now due to the dis-assembly and failure report by Dominic Nudo (owner/operator of FCO and Stage 3 Motoworks).

Details (including a total torch of my trusty Ford Ranger XLT RIP my truck).

I am in the process of recuperating some of the money from the re-built and instantly blowed 2.5L.

It has been one year since I bought the CSVT... and 3k on the clock with the stock 2.5L.

I am having Dominic replace the destroyed 2.5L with a '04 Mercury Sable 3.0L engine with oval port heads and intake aka "straight/full 3L" including his COP ignition system solution. I have also bought new MSDS coated (black) headers and Dominic is designing the exhaust system around current tuning results based on similar (as possible) engine/exhaust designs. It will be tuned by Akron Horsepower in Akron OH. I have heard nothing but good things about Akron HP, and since they are a pony shop, they should get a kick out of tuning my CSVT, although not the first.

Intake is a shorty K&M by S3M. Until I fab up my own CAI lol.

Anyway my daugter's b-day is on Oct 12 and I am taking possession of the car (w/new 18s!!!!!!) on the 14th on my way back to Naples so I will be sure to post tons of pics on and off the rack soon! Also soon to come will be Koni yellow adjustables w/-40mm Koni springs.

1 year bumming rides and borrowing vehicles soon to be gone I think I have only been this excited since I took my DL test! lol.

    Welcome Adam.
Sorry about the trouble you've had with the 2.5. I'm sure you'll have much better luck with the 3L swap.
