Arrow Just Bought A 98 SVT...

Hey all, I just picked up a really nice '98 SVT for my beater. 78K miles, all stock, has all the options, in GREAT shape:

New tires, brakes, needs nothing at all. Paid just $5K cash for it! It's actually kinda fun to drive.

Is there a site or thread about mods for these cars? I used the search, but didn't find much. I don't plan on doing much, just a CAI and shifter, if they make them...

If it were up to me I'd pick the Prism as my beater. My first car was an '89 Corolla. Same car, different badge. Mine was definitely a beater.

My daughter drives that more than me now, it's kinda hers, hence I had to pick up something else to drive...

In your new SVT Contour you will soon find a diamond in the rough, a real backroad beauty. A Contour SVT is sort of like what you would get if you spliced together the genes of a BMW 3-series (handling), a Subaru WRX (rally-car origins), and a mid-level Mustang (200 horsepower). It's a nice car, and although occasionally temperamental, they're tried and true as well as generally very reliable.

All mods and a complete discussion of every single imaginable aspect of this rare car can be found somewhere on this forum; just look under the appropriate sub-forum (aesthetics, exhaust, wheels & brakes, electrical, interior, etc.), and if you can't find an answer in the posted topics then post a new topic, and one of the contour-addicts here will gladly answer your question.

I think you'll love you new tour. Welcome to the forums!

A bud of mine modded his 2003 Cobra, then figured it was not a good fit as a daily short commute to work car during bad/wet weather. He sold it, even though he had yet to make his goal: break 11 flat as an ET. He's now considering a CSVT after he's gone driving with me and has seen mine at the track. Mod this car for power, upgrade your trans, add suspn tweaks, and you've got a fun little screamer with good manners. You'll miss it most of the days you drive other wheels.
