I already know that I have a faulty O2 sensor, the one after the cat. The shop that I get all of my work done at has an Escort (late 90's) that the engine is blown. My question is will the O2 sensor from that car fit on mine assuming that it was not damaged during whatever cause the Escort's engine to blow? Hopefully so because they said they would swap it for free if it works. BTW, I drive a 99 SE. Thanks in advance.

actually, i disagree. we really need to know more info, though. many escorts and contours, as well as many other fords, use the same o2 sensors. is yours a zetec or duratec? when you have a question like this, just try shopping online for the parts, and compare the part number for each car. like look for an o2 sensor for each car on autozone, if it gives you the same part numbers for both, it's a match!

I realize I'm answering over a month after you posted and that you've probably already made your decision. For the benefit of other readers, I'd go with a new O2 Sensor. If your car starts running strange in the near future, you'll be wondering about that reused O2 sensor. With a new one, you can pretty much rule out any problems with it for quite a while.

yeah, I ended up going with the new one. Turned out that the older one wouldn't work anyway. Thanks for the help
