Default heading to Baltimore what to do?

going with a lady friend of mine. she has a week long conference and we'll be staying at the Mount Washington Conference Center. arrive next sunday, leave the following sunday. M-F, 8-5, she'll be meetings all day. ill have the day to do whatever, and then we have the evening together. we'll also have friday evening through sunday about noon to do whatever. we have a rental car.

so what to do? for me during the day? us at night? and during our Fri-Sun free time. i was thinking the DC sites for Fri-Sun? is NY close enough?

i know many non-natives have been there so that's why i didnt post it in regional section.

    thanks in advance

I enjoyed Inner Harbor when I was there last. Catch a baseball game at Camden yards maybe.

It's only 40 miles from D.C. also. If all the monuments and museums won't keep you busy I don't know what will.

    Definitely go to a game!
My inlaws go to Baltimore every year to do just that. They also like to visit ESPN zone. I forget where they go to eat crabcakes and such.

I'm hoping to join them, possibly next year.

I had a conference there in May at the inner harbor. I flew out my family and they drove to DC every day.

I would skip Baltimore and go into DC every day. it's a quick 45 minute drive and there is everything in DC. Hit up the National Zoo, Smithsonians, Tour the Capital, War Memorials, Lincoln Memorial, Tour the State Capital, walk past the White House, tour the Treausary, National Monument, Spy Museum, National Archives........

    Most everything is free.

Baltimore has some ghetto ass strip clubs too. If you decide to go, hit up the Hustler and tell Marley I said hi!

The Phillips Seafood buffet in the harbor area was decent. Ruths Chris, Mcormick & Schmitts also. It's a trendy area.

great idea with the BB game Todd. my friend has never been to one. we've been talking about taking in a Dodger game so going to an Orioles game would be pretty cool. i used to be a big BB fan and seeing the different stadiums always intrigued me.

i know i can see the museums during the day while she's conferencing but im assuming they close around 5-6? open on saturdays probably..... i wouldnt want her to be like, "so what did you do today?" "ah, i just went to the Smithsonian" ....maybe have to save that one for Sat.

are the DC monuments, etc... open on Sats? i would assume so...

never heard of the spy museum....have to check that out. i think i can hit that up by myself, dont think she'd care if she missed it.

ghetto strip clubs are always cool.....

    great suggestions peeps, thanks.

funny thing is, next spring she has a conference in DC, lol. (id use smileys but i havent figured out how to use them yet!

There are 13-Smithsonians. They are massive and each one can take more than a day if you enjoy looking at stuff. Statisitic is that the amount of objects they have would take more than a lifetime if you looked at each piece for 10-seconds.

everything is open on weekends but as the kiddies will be in school they will not be as crowded during the week.

Everything is spaced out as well so you will be on foot. The Pandas at the national zoo are a must see as well. Tiger cubs were just born there as well.

Go to D.C if you have never been. Check out the monuments and what not. Its something fun to do once.

As stated before ESPN zone is cool as well as the rest of Inner Harbor.

Also heard the Aquarium (located in Inner Harbor I believe) there is top notch...never been though.

But if you want to have a good dinner with the lady go to The Rusty Scupper (in Inner Harbor) and get their crab cakes (market price of course). You will more than likely spend over 100 for the two of you but best damn crab cakes I've had to this day. Unreal

There is also a street of bars that literally is just bars one after another...the name of it escapes me but I've heard that are is a good spot for night life.

Forgot about FBI Headquarters! Man that was pretty cool to see the gun stock pile they had. Shotguns hidden in walking canes and such. Don't know how much it's changed but that was cool. Camden is an excellent ball field. I went to the 2nd game of the park opening. Quite a while ago. It was a blast.

Fell's Point/Inner Harbor is where all the bars and most of the restaurants are (unless you want to go to Little Italy). IMO that's really all you should bother with in Baltimore... spend an afternoon and night there, and then the rest of your free time seeing the monuments and museums in DC. Keep in mind parking will suck in both cities. You'll pretty much be dealing with parking garages in DC, and "hope you get lucky" street parking in Baltimore. And once you get away from Fell's Point/Inner Harbor, Baltimore can be pretty ghetto. Pretty severely ghetto now that I think about it.
    Now officially a troll
