Here is one I snapped awhile ago - I was watching some sort of cops show and this was in the background. '95 for $14,995 in '96 - what a deal:

I just realized that the pic I took was almost exactly 10 years later.... wierd

Dude tempos freaking rocked! But they were the complete opposite kinda of car.

Slow reliable didn't handle well, just old old tec.

First car was a '91 tempo!!!!! Hahahaha it caught on fire while i was pulling into McDonalds, I ran inside and asked for water.....i got a kiddie cup filled half way with ice. Headlight bulb got really hot, melted the lens and then caught on fire.

I would have parked in the drive thru, you would have been guaranteed a fire extinguisher.

LOL. I actually had a Tempo too. 160,000 miles on it with no issues, then just died one day. Never was able to figure out what happened...

Rosie Odonnel walked by and it just gave up life right then and there.

my first car was a '93 tempo. it had like 110,000 miles on it and the interior was near perfect...if you can call red plush near perfect. i sold it in january (to upgrade to someting just a little tiny bit better:laugh:) for 900 bucks and i just found out the girl crashed it...i was so pissed

84 Topaz before the Zetec Contour.

$600 for the Topaz and had it for four years. All of the sudden the tranny was going, water pump leaking, radiator hose busted and a bunch of other things. I drove it to Golf Mill Ford, as it ied out twice on the way there, and drove away with my first Ford Contour...

my first car to learn to drive a stick on was an 85 tempo that was in perfect condition...this was in 94 or so, and it well, lot faster then the gl my wife has now. but then i rolled it 7 times and hit a tree, thing crumpled like a wad of paper, but i got out unscratched!

good cars!

oh yeah, the tempos were built like a rock, and both of their motors were fairly reliable.

But I didnt get why they only put 6 numbers in the odometer. Its like Ford didnt anticipate the car wouldnt ever make 100K miles...

87 Tempo GL Sport (2 door with the Mustang GT Seats - oooooh do I miss those headrests) was my 3rd car.

Really wanted an 88 GLS with the V6 but I got what I got.

It died a slow death with about 180K on the clock.
I loved it though. Come to think of it, I have loved all my cars.

75 Pinto (V6)
81 Escort
87 Tempo
93 Mustang (4 cylinder)
97 Saturn SC2
00 Explorer Sport
00 SVT Contour

Back to the thread at hand...

In gone in 60 seconds, when those dudes are boosting the Escalade out of the "suburban hell", the "rent-a-cops" that are chasing them are contours...probably 99s or 00's since the movie was made in 2000. Had light bars and everything.

White police interceptors ftw.

On the other side of the thread...

My first car when I was 16 was a 92 Tempo GLS. Had a 5-speed, Vulcan V6, white with the factory body kit. Had the white 15" (yeah! 15"!) rims...hot car. When my sister turned 16, she got it while I was in college. It was going to be my graduation present when I graduated from college. Then one day, while my sister was driving it...this happened. It had 138k, all original, no problems.

She didn't walk away, but she's okay now. Then I got the contour! Although I'm still a little heartbroke about the car when I see tempos driving around.

Oh it was. That's why I was so sad to see her go. The previous owner (old lady) babied her. Kept maintenance records of everything, kept the original brochure, window sticker. Only brought it to the dealer she bought it from for service, it was ridiculously well maintained.
