Thread: SVT-s left

    Default SVT-s left

does someone know roughly how many csvt-s are still on the roads? I am thinking, if their number decreases dramatically, would the market price of the svt will increase??? coz now it sucks big time, according to the Blue Book. What's a good price for a 98 SVT at say 100k miles?? hmm?

Roughly. Well roughly. We tried collecting VIN numbers a few years ago but it was such a PITA. I'd bet a good 1000 are dead. A few years ago over 500 were confirmed.

No the value of the cars will not go up. It is likely to stabilize and hold steady since it is already a great used car deal for what you get. Now the price might rise for a fine example of the car. Say one with the flaws "pre-fixed"

The bids has been going up a bit lately on eBay for mint-condition low-mileage stock CSVTs (aka the "time warp" variety) but overall normal SVTs are not worth much and not predicted to increase. Feel free to hold onto it forever but only a niche market will be interested in the car.

thats the main reason i still have my SVT, i would never get anything close to what i paid for it if i sold it.
its more cost effective just to keep it.

^ So true, that usually happens with every car. I truly believe if you dont have any payments on the car the best thing to do is keep it until the doors fall off.

I'm always gonna keep my svt. I can make some money off of it if I keep it in its current condition probably at any point in the near future, but say I made $2500 off of it if I sold it tomorrow, well then I'd have that money and what would I buy? Ain't much better all around used cars out there in the price range of a svt contour. I can't afford it now, but eventually I plan to have it nicely painted, all (not just the essential) worn parts replaced, etc. At that point even if its value is just what I've spent on it, I'd be happy, not that I'd sell it then.

Or until the costs to repair it each year are well more than the value of the car, which is what happened with my Contour. I could have bought an SVT with the amount of money I put into my Contour in two years. There's a reason that car was stock.

  8. Default Back at ya 8000rpm. From Gerry in VT

I just traded my 98 SVT Contour with 120K to Herb Chambers Ford in Braintree Ma for an '06 ST Focus. If you hurry you could probably get it for $3K or possibly under.
