Thread: Any harm/advantage to replacing injectors with higher flow?

  1. Default Any harm/advantage to replacing injectors with higher flow?

I have a 95 Ford Contour 2.0l with about 115k miles. I have some top engine noise that others have described as lifter ticking and I have seen some people claim that the injectors can and do make a similar sound.

With that thought in mind I thought I would replace them.

    Problem:
Stock injector retails for $60 at A-Z.
"Racing injectors" #19 sell for $130 Ford part m-9593-c304
Performance Injectors #24 sell for $163 for all 4 Online.

    Would Ford part m-9593-c304 fit a 95 2.0l?

Would putting the #19 or #24 injectors cause any negative impact on drivability with an otherwise stock setup? Can the ECU and Fuel system regulate this combination?

Would I gain anything with this change?

IIRC the stock injectors are 19# so you could replace them without any problems. going to a bigger injector will give you all sorts of problems, the biggest being running extremly rich all the time. the injector tick is normal and they are probably just fine. mine tick so loud that you can hear it from the next car over at a stop light. ive actually had peole roll down their windows and try to tell me i have some lifer tick and should get it fixed.

If your not having any problems i would just leave them alone. if you are tell us what issues youre having and we can give you some options.

BTW if you do go with the 24# injectors you will need a tune via chip. you probably wont gain anything just from the injectors but the tune would help.

I just hear ticking and was trying to eliminate possibilities.

Thanks for the info. I was not sure if the factory tune could handle the higher volume F/I or not.

    Guess I'll leave well alone.

They just put out more gasoline spray if needed. You'd be wasting the extra money spend on them, plus wasting gas, and it would make your car run horribly and throw CELs. Definitely don't waste the money. I wouldn't replace the injectors unless you know there is something wrong with them and they've been tested. Your car would probably run better and quieter from a bottle of injector cleaner and a can of Seafoam.
