Thread: best muffler...

  1. #1

    Default best muffler...

i want something to get more flow then the stock muffler, but i dont want a big ol' coffee can coming out the back of the tour. something a little louder that will give me more throttle response, or does adding a different muffler really do anything for the car, i have a custom intake that i made in my tig welding class, that helped it a lot, but will a muffler do the same?

Man, I wish I had workshop classes during my schooling.

Back on subject... A muffler will improve performance and more noise, for lack of better words. If you want the whole package, get a larger diameter exhaust (2.5" should be more than enough.) Or grab an SVT exhaust, cut off the resonator or rear mufflers, not both!

You won't gain a whole lot without doing header and full exhaust but you will gain a little.
Dynomax makes some of, if not, the best flowing mufflers. They have different models with varying sound levels.
If you want the best sounding exhaust, get a svt exhaust like the above post said and do whatever BK did. I think it was remove the mufflers and leave the resonator. Sounds great and it'll flow a little better than your stock exhaust.

What about replacing the resonator with a glasspack?
If home is where the heart is, then I'm out of place.

I used a modified V6 exhaust on my car. I used a dynomax bullet muffler as my resonator and I used a Dynomax Ultra Turbo muffler with a Bosal tip. I love it cause it shuts up at idle and sounds mint at 2500 to 4000 rpm

no. do exactly what i said. nothing sounds better. nothing else is worth the money. the modded svt exhaust will probably be cheaper than most anything else anyways. just do that.
