If you are doing the track day, you must read this

Ok, so for those doing the track day and have not been to VIR before, like I haven't, it is imperative that you educate yourself about the track BEFORE you go. One way to do this is to read (and memorize) a description of a hot lap at the track. Read it while looking at a track layout to understand what is said. My approach is to read it each night before going to bed, and perhaps one more time during the day each day.

Here are a couple links to hot lap descriptions for VIR. I am not saying one is better than the other, and both are based on rear wheel drive vehicles so our cars will behave a little differently.

Once you get a feel for the track based on the hot lap descriptions, watch this video of several laps just published on Sunday May 4 and follow along, remembering what you have already learned and apply it to what you are seeing.

Learning this is what I will also be doing in the next 2 weeks. Yes that is all the time we have to learn the track and maximize the fun and safety factors.
