Map software is pretty good at giving you the quickest route, so I'd say you should be fine with the above.
The biggest thing I try to keep in mind when planning a route is major cities' rush hour traffic patterns. Typically the 7-9 am hours and 3-5 pm hours.
I plan my departure time around when I'll arrive in those cities to avoid their peak commuting hours.

Traffic really REALLY sucks the fun out of the trip to SZ and makes you arrive at the hotel cranky.
