Well, there aren't any more new SVT 2.5L engines. Unless you're dead set on getting another 2.5L, go and check the 3L forum and they have it all listed as to how much it would cost for that sort of swap. It will doubtless be less money than finding a rebuilt 2.5L SVT engine. A dealer will try and get ~$7K for a replacement 2.5L as an example.

Okay thanks... Turns out the problem isnt as bad as he thinks. I'm going to head over tomorrow with a friend and pull the valve cover off and see whats what. His diagnosis was based off a friend just listening to it. I could kick his $#% for not telling me thats all they did. Thanks though.

There is a regular Contour listed on the San Diego Craigslist for parts only with a non-SVT 2.5 for $400. Swap the heads & cams and I'd venture to say you'd be good to go.
