Has anyone tried to install a rear view mirror with the temp/compass/auto dimmer? I have been thinking about finding one and installing it. Just wondering how hard it would be to do with that set up.

Ford Rear View Mirror with Temp

not sure if it was a Ford one but it has been done before. Get the wiring diagram for it and go to town ....

One is made in West Michigan by Gentex. Another was made by Donnelly corp. I believe after a lawsuit only Gentex makes them now. I fixed a auto dimming one for my sisters VW Jetta. It had the problem of mirror liquid coming out like this link. After working on hers I wouldn't put one in unless I could gurantee I wouldn't overheat it in the summer. Her car was stored facing south this July/August.

I've done the auto-dimming mirror/compass in several vehicles now. I've never bothered with the temp sensor though but it's just a couple more wires and then mounting the temp sensor somewhere. For the autodimming mirror/compass all you need is switched power and ground.
