Wear Indicator - Lots of Brake Dust?

I have noticed this week that my front discs are making a lot of brake dust, which they never have before. Is this a sign that my pads are worn out?
There's no funny noises or anything and a quick visual didn't show up anything to the untrained eye.

I am preparing to do a whole bunch of maintenance and I will just add this to the list if need be. I am buying all the parts and then I am going to take it in to AJ USA and have them do the stuff that I can't do myself (this being one of them).

the only wear indicator i know of makes noise when you brake. some pads have that.

Ya, what he said, the brake dust could just be a lot of stop and go. have you been city driving a lot lately?

Too much tire dressing, especially if allowed to get on the wheels when applying, acts like a brake dust magnet.

Did you dress the tires recently?

That was my problem. I switched to a low gloss Dupont and I have much less dust now.

No dressing lately, just a thorough wash at the local DIY.
Could be it though, I have just never noticed it before. Perhaps just paranoia since I expect they need to be replaced soon.
