HVAC relocation on pre98 console?

i searched and didn't find anything on this subject.... has anyone tried to relocate the hvac panel to the slot available in the pre98 center console? it seems like its a doable job the wires behind the panel are long enough and the space seems the right size to accommodate the panel. i was thinking of emptying out the center space and putting in a double din with a 6 or 7" screen...
 
i know this may be the wrong thread but its the most recent one i could find, im wanting to replace the interior carpet on my 98 SVT does anyone know the dimensions?

I am currently in the middle of this very project. I've got my bezel just about finished for a 7 inch pioneer avic head unit. After getting that done I'll be working on relocating the hvac controls. haha I am still not exactly sure how I'm going to mount it tho. It's just one of those trial and error things. You gotta cut some stuff up and figure it out as you go along.

yah, trial and error's the only way since all the pictures from old posts are long gone... :( be sure to post a pic mang, im gonna brain storm more on it...
 
I finally finished the hvac relocation, it was easier than I anticipated.

So any good pics of this still out there? Been surfing the net and not having a lot of good luck. Although I did manage to find this post while searching Google. Looking to start doing this as I put my interior back together. It looks like it would be pretty straight forward, but I always like to see what I'm getting into ahead of time if I can.
