109 plus 6.50 shipping, no tax

I got it the other year for 106 plus 6% sales tax since I went to the store.

so that is the same as you found .... most other places have it for alot more.

I have really enjoyed detailing with the PC. it makes it alot easier and it is more consistant then doing it by hand. I got the pads and buff bonnets from autogeek.com

The PC is a good starter orbital but I'd recommend other models over it unless you're getting a steal. The Griots polisher is easier to work to with and the Meguiars orbital polisher tops both of them.

I got mine through Autogeek.net You can get them as a kit with polishes and pads. Sure does does a great job, I use poor boys's.

A great price but you'll probably never use the blue pad, grey pad or bonnets with the leveling pad. And I would go ahead and replace the backing pad as well.

so how do you remove the polish/wax that you apply? I use the PC with either a very stiff foam pad or a lambs wool leveling pad with either 100% cotton or microfiber bonnets.

on his svt he wouldn't need the yellow cutting pads. the white pad would be what is used most of the time. maybe the orange if you want to use a paint cleaner.

I use a selection of the meguirs foam pads

and these bonnets

sure if it has everything that you are looking for.

But you see I don't know what I need. I just want a starter kit that will have a bunch of different pads. I plan on doing a few different cars and once I figured out the motion and get it down then doing the contour. I have an 89 dodge omni, a 92 dodge hightop conversion van, a 99 ford tarus wagon, an 88 subaru turbo wagon, a 2003 protege and my contour... all with different paint conditions.

I usually remove polish by hand with a microfiber so I can see and feel how the paint turned out. If I'm feeling lazy I just use an old 10" random orbital with a bonnet on it but by the time I dig it out and plug it in I could have wiped the car already.

You're right about the yellow pads. An orange pad is nice to have but getting 2 white pads (because they load up and you can just swap instead of washing it out and then going back to the car) is a must. If the orange doesnt have enough cutting power he can order a yellow later.

So I am going to get the 100$ big pad package on there.

I guess I just need to get the polishing compound now, in different cutting levels?

Brian, you said you poorboys?

I myself use one great polish and change the pad to suit cutting levels but I've never worked on heavily damaged paint. Menzerna Acrylic Jacket is what I use on everything now (its a combo of two products) and then my Optimum wax on top. Of course now that Optimum has brought out their Poli-Seal cleaner/sealer I'll probably switch to that.
