I've never given dynamics too much thought before. There's a lot to think about and study up on here. My musical tastes run a wide gamut, from Sinatra and Sammy, to classic rock, to classical, etc. Regarding the Led Zeppelin example, I enjoy the highs and thinner sound of classic rock, so I usually tweak my settings to recapture that as best as I can. I agree that listening in the car presents its own challenges. Most of my listening time is spent in the car, with a 1200 mile commute every 3 weeks. The road noise can present quite a challenge finding a good balance between volume and quality.
