I am currently talking to a gentleman to try and get a hood made for the pre-98 crew. I am interested in a hood with some type of induction cowl on it. (see picture). I haven't talked price yet. At this point just looking for feed back and ideas of what type of hood you would like to see made for our cars. What type of material would you like it to be made of (carbon Fiber, fiberglass). If you have a certain style hood in mind please send a photo. Lets see if we can get enough people interested to make this happen.

i was thinking something like this would be cool
Evo6nearside.JPG

only with the NACA duct on both sides for balance.

Cool on that awesome car, anyways. What about a hood that is raised in the center and leads to the oval up front- where the top would square off. :ponder:

Honestly, I can't see this going well. There's not a lot of people with cars in this good of condition who want to spend money on a hood. Just my input..

there have been attempts for group buys for all styles of hoods... the people who wanted them have already got them - it is pretty much a one-off option for yourself and maybe one or two others who would like what you are presenting... good luck - JOE

i pray to god that you arent calling the EVO VI rice, cause i will come beat you with the ugly stick. the naca duct and vent are both fully functioning and come stock. the EVO VI is one of the most kick ass cars that you could buy for under $50k if not the best and is by no means any form of rice.

I knew and drove an Evo VI before you possibly even knew it existed. I was implying that an EVO looking hood on a Contour would be rice to the core!

oh please. if your going that route then any aftermarket hood that isnt OEM style is rice and you should just stay out of this thread. plus if the vent and ducts were functional then my opinion is that its not rice. the ones that are installed to make it look fast are rice.

as for you driving it before i knew it existed i highly doubt. ive been following the EVO very closely since the V first came out waiting for it to come to the U.S.

Ok back on subject... The Evo style is nice but if its being custom made, make the cowl integrated into the hood. Theres plenty of room for it (at least for the Zetec) and won't give the rice look.

Kerry I like what your saying here with this style hood. Still waiting for more feedback.

What about a hood like this:

Sorry about the angle. That is the best shot I could find on such short notice. Obviously you could design it for the pre-98 fitments.

Here is a little better view of that hood

Even better look. I was thinking this would look sweet as long as the "Triangle Lip" isn't pronounced. Everything smooth would be better:

Then there is this one:

We've seen hoods like this done before.

And this one could be interesting:

The color of the car in the picture makes it hard to tell, but the cowl is curved like a crecent moon.

Here is a Sierra Cosworth with a generic style NACA Duct Hood. But there is no cowl:

Nice clean nostrils on the Cayenne

Vauxhall Astra with dual reverse cowl and ducts all over the place. Half-way tasteful in my opinion.

Astra G Coupe

These are just a few hoods that I found that haven't been overproduced and put on every honda in the street.
I figured it would help get the Idea Juices Flowing!!!

Even one for us Mystique guys we always get left out on G/Bs like these, like the Door Sill project that recently was posted. I won't be able to afford one of these because of the house me and the g/f will be aquiring, and the baby on the way. But I'm just looking out for us Mystique guys. Just a thought.

Okay everyone LOUDSHO92 will be making the hood and he wrote this:

They would be made out of Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass.

Anything can be done but it is easy when its a OEM style vent like the EVO, it will involve a hood getting destroyed though.

If you want a cowl like we have on the SHo we can do that as well. The more molding and work that has to be done the more the hoods will cost and take longer. It will also affect the output of the final hood.

So basically keep it simple.

The hoods wil cost around what we are charging right now. We can also do 99+ at the same time if some one want to dontate as well.

Lets start thinking of the type of hood we want check out his site http://www.shobrosgarage.com/index.php?cPath=158_162
We need at least 10 people to make this happen. He will also do the same hood for post 98 if someone donates a hood so lets get the word out to the post 98 folks as well.

Holy ****!!!! Are they going to offer these hoods in the Colored Carbon Fiber for the Extra 75.00 bones. If so...I may donate my Carbon Cowl hood as a core!! Shoot that guy an e-mail back and ask if the color fiber can be an option for the added cost. Now I'm interested as well.
