Calling SleeperZ...

Hey Kerry,

Check this out..

Enough piping and tubing to make 2 complete sets.
I'll split the cost with you !!!
And it is blue.

Let me know

Now you're thinkin' Brent!! WTFG, man!

I picked up this thing a while back: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-0...089099406QQcategoryZ38634QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and will be installing it in the next week or two. I checked the piping sizes, angles and fittings. MAF bolts right in, but I'm concerned about metering accuracy, we'll see. The pipes won't work in their current lengths, but that's what a saw is for...

First off I found a reducing 90 silicone bend here: http://stores.channeladvisor.com/verociousmotorsports/Items/srell-2753004-906-bl. Now it is expensive but is it worth it? I know Chris from CTA is just using a 3" 90 bend for his intake, which will be cheaper but how effective will it be with no reducer ring? Or should I stick to the original SleeperZ intake (with only a 2.75" bend)?

Also, how would you fit the IAT into the pipe? This has more to do with the early Zetecs, but could you explain how to do this in more detail.

I plan on keeping the airbox because I already have the K&N filter, but don't really want to keep the plenum. How will that affect performance?

The stock plenum on the Zetec is meant (alot) more for noise reduction than performance. Ditch it. Better ones can be found, but I'd worry about that later. The stock airbox is a pretty good design. Only thing I suggest doing to it is opening up the air feed from the fender and replacing the rubber triangular piece with a piece of 3" pipe. That means cutting the air box and fender.

My IAT is threaded into my intake piping and I used JB Weld so seal up around it. Another option is getting a post98 MAF witht the IAT integrated and splice the wires for your IAT into the post98 MAF wire harnes.

The 3" to 2.75" 90 degree silicone elbow is a must in my book. Though they're tougher to find (but usually no more expensive). They keep the airflow to the throttle body optimal. Actually because they fit snuggly on the throttle body and therfore provide better airflow.

And yes I did actually measure the airflow of a stock intake vs old CTA vs my design. Mine won.

Yey, some answers! Looks like I did everything right then. I should have it finshed this weekend because the exhaust shops I went to didn't have the polished SS pipe in stock, they said it is very popular pipe choice.

Is it possible for you to take a pic of the fender hole you made? I clean out the airbox of a few things but your right about the fender hole being to small.
