hey all, i'm just wondering if anyone knows if there are any differences in the vct zetecs that come in the contour and the zx2 escort? mainly i'm wondering about the head, intake, TB and ecu. thanks.
chris

i suppose i should also clarify that i'm wanting to know because of a performance package i found for the zetec in the zx2 today. it comes with the head, intake, cams, TB, and ECU with a tune. it's suppose to add about 60 HP to a stock motor. it would be a pretty good option for those of us that like our zetecs.

not sure if there is much of a difference because my friends zx2 only makes 5 more hp (ford specs) then my zetec. i supose just a little tuning is the difference.

the PCMs are going to be different. the rest of the stuff should be the same though (or at least close enough to make work).

so if i was going to try this would i want the full kit or should i buy the parts separate with out the ECU and then try to find a place to do a tune? here's a link.

check out the turbo kit for the zx2.

so i just got off the phone with gude performance. they told me that the ECU isn't needed unless you plan to use a turbo. they also tell me that their head kit will net about 160-170hp at the wheel with an exhaust and a header and exhaust it will net about 170-180hp at the wheel. the turbo kit with their turbo cams will net about 220-230hp at the wheels at 8lbs. when i asked about both he told me anyone that has ever tried to run both ends up blowing the transmission.

he also told me that you can pay half up front and then half when it ships, it takes about a week to get the order filled. this week they are doing a 200 dollar off special. normally the kit is $1650, i didn't ask about shipping costs because i won't be doing this for a while. to me it sounds like a good option for those of us with the zetec. instead of being told just sell it and buy a v6 and do the 3.0 swap.

or, you could get a JRSC for a Focus for a few hundred $$ less and make more power. also, the turbo kit wont fit the Contour and the TEO4H turbo they use will not make 220-230 WHP at 8PSI. it is a small turbo, smaller than a T3 60 trim which i made 200WHP at 10PSI.

ok well it's not as if i'm claiming these power gains. i'm just posting what the guy i spoke with told me. however after i did a little more searching on the zx2 and focus forums i have found that the gude turbo kits run around 3800 which is IMO way to much for a turbo kit that doesn't include fuel management. i've also read that the kits are crap.
