Poor fitment of MSDS Y pipe

I installed a new (to me) MSDS Y pipe and can't seem to get it to fit properly... I got a new donut gasket and it still seems to be leaking at the connection between the y and the cat... Any tips on this? I've tried washers to tighten up the springs and everything to no avail! Getting tired of the awful sound!

Ditch the springs.

The mating surfaces could be pitted or dented on the cat pipe. A little smear of exhaust pipe jointing paste may help.

Be careful not to over tighten the y pipe joint, you could crush that donut ring ... G.
