Main Cat replacement question

So I am looking to replace my main cat and I look under my car and I notice that it is bolted on. How would I go about replacing it with a universal cat or a straight pipe? The stock main cat is about $150 and I just don't feel like spending that kinda money just on a cat.

Mi, probly no emmisions. Just gut it if.your not gonna fix it right.

Yeah just let the bolts soak overnight with PB and go for it early morning.
