exhaust flanges..

alright, I am building an exhaust, but have noticed the exhaust flanges under the car are the three-bolt "arrow" shaped ones, and I cannot seem to find them. would it be acceptable to cut them off and weld on two-bolt flanges, or even the three-bolt triangle flanges? or is there a source for the "arrow" flanges? any idea what size the flange is on the outlet of the Y-pipe?
