Failed inspection

Rate this Entry
As usual.
Last year it was brakes, rotors, tires, and tint.
Suspension problems this time around.

- right rear sway bar bracket/bushing is disconnected
- right front sway bar (?) bushing
- right rear caliper leaks
- aftermarket struts/springs

The last one is total BS. Even NH laws back me up.

But at the same time, it gives me motivation to revert back to stock. Stock is a more comfortable ride, puts less stress on suspension components (that sway bar bracket keeps breaking) and I could finally have a full load without bottoming out. It's what I always wanted even before purchasing the car.

The car will be parked for a while as I gather parts and book time for install, since my inspection expired yesterday. This means I will be driving the Legacy to most summer meets.

So anybody interested in Koni adjustables / Eibach springs?

On a side note, once going back to stock, the 17's will look ridiculous so I might be putting those up for sale too.

Gah that's crap! I can't believe they actually check all that stuff. Argh.

Do Koni's/Eibach's work on little Zetecs? LOL .

that is sucky ... so glad CT only has emissions inspections. but then again some of the cars I see on teh road wouldn't be if we had safety inspections.

if you need any help working on that stuff let me know.

Ian, yes they will work but the spring would be for a V6 and it will make your zetec ride even higher in the front then it is now possibly.

haha yeah, like when we put the Cougar's old stock springs/struts on the GL to save money.
It was the GL Moster Truck!

I am shocked about the springs/struts. I just got mine inspected today and it passed no problem. I have Koni/Bat springs. I've thought about swapping out the Koni's for BAT struts. It sounds like the ride would be more comfortable.

I do need to figure out the rear sway bar situation though. I have the 21mm BAT bar and it has broken the subframe mounts a few times. Somebody welded the mounts a few times, but it is only a matter of time until it happens again. I either swap the BAT bar for stock or upgrade the subframe.

Good luck with your issues. If you need anything, let me know.

I won't be going back to stock ... because SVT front struts aren't sold anymore.
But I still want the ride to be higher, and I suspect the Konis are nearing the end of their lifespan so I will be upgrading anyway.
The car is still parked (battery disconnected this time!) for now.

Shoot, that reminds me. I keep forgetting to pull our stock struts/springs out of storage for you.
Don't forget to roll the car every few weeks and start it/let it run for a few minutes.

No worries because I spent a lot of money at BAT today.
