What's the min and max operating temperature for the Duratec V6?

depends on the thermostat ... stock is 190

so it runs 190 to 212 ...

My question was more basic than that as I'm interested in the min and max operating temps of the engine.

not sure exactly what you are trying to get a then ... if the car starts and runs in that temp then it runs ... or are you asking for the complete range of temps that the coolant can see ...

the other winter here in CT we had that two week period where it was about zero to 13 degrees overnight ... cars started every morning in those temps

My svt runs around 180-190.Max that it has gotten to was 230.It wont hurt it but not good. Was running the car hard and down here in FL it can get pretty hot.

At what tempeture does the duratec V6 overheat? At what temp would the duratec V6 be considered warmed up after a cold start?

it would be warmed up after it gets to operating temp which is 190 degrees ... cooling fans normally kick in at 212, I think the high speed fan will come in around 217 or so ... so much more then that I guess that would be near over heating ...

With a 190 t-stat, fan on at 212 off at 198. Consider it warmed up enough to stomp on at and above 160 F ONLY if you have a high quality synmthetic oil like Amsoil 0W-30. Its oil related not car related. The additive packages are designed to work best above those temps. Stan
