1996 Mercury Mystique 2.0 Zetec.
What is stock exhaust size? If you don't know, don't post unless there is a definite answer.

You did not answer with a definite answer. It is 1.75" I looked at that thread, but all I saw was 1.75" - 2", so I wasn't sure if there was a definite answer there either. I actually read it through this time though...

It's too restrictive either way. needs to be opened up to either 2.25" or 2.5" (owners preference) so who cares what size it is from the factory:shrug:

lol, hilarious pic. btw, i have a question about expanding to 2 1/4" piping. would it do any good to expand the piping from cat back? or would i need to go from the manifold on back to notice any difference?

you will notice a bigger gain with manifold back as you dont have the Cat to slow things down however you will still notice a gain with only a Cat-back

you mean removing the catyllitic converter all together? don't think i could do that, as i'd have to reverse it when emissions time comes around again.

ok in that case you would still notice better gains with doing a manifold back exhaust and installing a highflow cat than just a cat-back
