Hello everyone! I finally registered, although I've read this site for a couple of years now. I got a 98 CSVT in January 2006, and this forum helped convince me to buy it. Anyway, I love the car, but I've got a question. I was trying to take the overhead console off, so I could get to the sunroof motor. From my understanding (might be wrong though), you have to pry out the light cover first. I got the back end pried off, and then started prying the end near the windshield. When I did that, that whole part of the unit seemed to come out somewhat. So right now, the whole light assembly is still up in there, but kind of hanging there, and it doesn't seem to want to go back in, or come out.

I'm trying to find out if this is normal and I just need to pry it really hard, or if I've done something wrong. It worries me that I can't get it to go back to how it was originally.

Sorry if my question isn't clear; I'll be happy to clarify or take pictures if necessary. Anyway, thanks in advance, and it's nice to finally have an account here.

the rectangular "map light" center piece simply "snaps" in there, held tight due to tight clearance between the map lights and the overhead console.

To remove the map lights use a small flathead (etc) on the rear (driver's seat side.. long edge) and pry it outwards... then opposite side and pry out as well.. it will "fall" out, held in by the map light power wires.

then you can get to the overhead console retaining screws

Is the entire assembly, with bulbs etc. supposed to come out, or just the plastic cover?

This probably seems like a stupid question, I'm just trying not to break anything.

the entire rectangular assembly, which sits flush when mounted, will pop out.

swivel bulbs, center map light, everything.. the entire rectangle.. about an inch or so thick, will drop out.

^ Nice.
I hit NC every so often, my brother lives in Asheville. He used to live in Charlotte and just recently moved to Asheville.
