Hello all,

Figured I'd introduce myself. Just picked up a 2000 CSVT #361 Black Clearcoat/Midnight Blue. Car was formerly owned by a SVT now Super duty Engineer.

I lurked the forms for quite some time before finally picking up the car.

Most of the fixes/upgrades have been done
-Trans switched over to the Ford "honey"
-dash warp fix kit installed
-fog with parking lights mod
-added the door handle de-contented lights
-water pump with metal impeller
-new control arms
-regular tune up items
-upgraded fuel pump per Ford TSB

I converted over from the General having owned 3 Grand Prix GTP's. Sure the CSVT doesn't have the straight line get up and go, but it sure is much more fun in the twisties.

The only problem I've found so far, around 6,000/6,500 I get the Charge System light that flickers on, used the search and seems alternator or voltage regulator(belt seems alright). Either way looks like I'll be doing my first work on it sooner than expected.

I look forward to learning from the vast amount of knowledge posted by all of you in this forum and hopefully make it out to a meet sometime.

I seldom miss an opportunity to beat the drum about the merits of the Ford "honey" fluid XT-M5-QS. Sounds like you're off to a great start.

Welcome.

I have the same problem as you. It was also suggested that I check the tensioner. My car's getting a 3.0 put in now so I haven't been able to fix that.

Theres a how to out there to fix your guys problem, it has something to do with hooking the indicator light into the main charging connection of the alternator, to give a more accurate reading  I dont have the problem so i didnt look to far into it. This a common problem, look it up, you will see.

That fix is for those who have the indicator light upon the revs dropping. Not those of us who experience it in the upper band of the rev range.

Well unless I read the thread wrong?? You've been around longer, but that's how I interpreted it.

Lets not turn this into a fix my car thread though haha. Don't need to get banned right off the bat! lol

Since I had to re-register I figured I'd just bump my original introduction instead of posting a new one.

As well if anyone wants to check out an update on my electrical problem, it can be found here.

You most likely still have a while before the alternator fails. My light was going on an high rpm for atleast two months before I noticed it coming on a regular driving. Eventually it slowly started to come on around 4k, 3k, and eventually 2k. Then one day it wouldn't start, so we jumped it and it would idle, but if you put it in gear and tried to drive it would die. The alternator job isn't too bad although much harder than on a zetec. For me there was just one bolt that was hard to get it, which i had to use my 12" extension and a swivel.

Is there any confirmation that this is a failing alternator? I'm getting a 3.0 installed now so it's as good of a time as any to put a new alternator in. If so, I should probably do that. What's the best source? here? Not as of yet. Please check the thread in EGL for an update on the condition.

As for where to order. I think everyone here would agree to order it through Teamfordparts. Costs a little more then the cheapie, but these cars really only like the OEM Alternators.
