No problem, that's the beauty of a forum, if you don't know, someone will help you. Hope that page gave you some ideas, I personally think the best shift knob for the Contour is an 01+ Cougar knob, or if you're into the red stitching, the euro Focus RS knob (same thing w/ red stitching). Also I believe that some have removed the reverse lock out ring, which should broaden your options. Good luck!

I had the spectuning short shifter installed in my car this weekend and its a very solid shifter. Very similar to the B @ M shifter. Ill put pictures on soon cause it also looks very nice in the car. I def recommend it to everyone since I got it for only 70 bucks and its a great bang for buck

plan on keeping the stock shifter in the trunk then. all B&M knock offs are known to break ...

yeah i still have the stock shifter that ill be keeping but even just holding the new one you could tell how better quality it is then the stock one and how sturdy it is. Ive gone through the gears pretty hard too and everything is very smooth

ok, stock shifters don't break where as the knock off do .... I hope that metal is sturdy as I am not sure how else it would be in this case

but you must have some great eyes to determine that the weld for the ball on the bottom of the shifter is prefect and it isn't going to fatique and fail .... or that the metal didn't become brittle around the weld either ...

well how long would it take for it to break cause I was giving a warranty on the shifter

who knows, some people have it break on agressive driving and I have heard of some that it happens while cruising and shifting very easily.

some have thought they got lucky and nothing would happen but much later on it does break.

rememeber you get what you pay for. who knows maybe this one is really better then the rest
