I wanna ask some questions about my car but it won't let me post anywhere else. How many other people are having this problem. I wanna open a new thread and get some feedback.

Well since the forums don't allow pictures in sigs, no one would be able to use that pic here. Maybe you should go brush up on the Forum Rules again.
;) :p :D

I found a possible answer for an issue that does not matter.
NO way to get help here. Read rules for hours too,
I guess I better get rid of the car fast before more happens.

I have 99 sedan, 4 cyl auto with 111K miles for 4 years. Hornblow when starting and killing car, length dependant on temperature makes car unusable. Started last winter and just came back. Car has many other issues that are less urgent and do not know if related. only extras i see are AC cruise and mirror knob.

I have searched over 24 hours now. I have read hundreds of posts here and on 4 other forums. I have read and reread all the rules and apologize for forgetting or violating them. Expecially asking the question here when rules say to post in troubleshooting only, but you say to ask. You guarantee the answer is here so I am stupid and exhausted and can't use your search function.

I have spent over $200 to be told I am lying or bumping the horn myself. I can't work 'til this is repaired (or lose shelter for using car) The horn never crosssed my mind before and I do not know how to make it sound if it did. Don't even know if it does sound on command from all the posts that say they do not. It is not the horn you all describe. It is very LOUD!!!! Is there a way to fix or murder it?

I used to love my car despite its hugeness. However, I need transportation and regret any offense a need to sell give.

thanks

lol, is the horn sound the same as the normal horn? If it is, then you've got a short in the steering column wiring somewhere, or someone is totally screwing with you and wired it up to do that. (I've seen it done where the horn is wired to the brake pedal). The simplest way is to unplug the horn. Should be mounted in the driver's side fender, in front of the tire and wheelwell shield.

This is kind of ridiculous, but its not my forum so oh well.

If you had been around to see the stuff that this prevents, you might understand. If you're going to be into CEG for the long haul, a week or two in double secret probation is nothing.

IMO, i'd just unplug the horn and mount yourself one of these.

I would guess it sounds "normal' but I have never found the horn point or tried to honk to know its sound. What sounds loud at 4 am may be "whimpy" to you. Think it is short since it gives longer blast as weather chills.
I will try to find someone who will kill. My mechanic won't.

When Will I be able to post to ask about other issues in the proper forum?
A week or two or set number of posts or what? I can't find a clear statement.

I have found some things to try for cabin light, dash blocking d-frost, rear squawk (new this week) and blower on high only. It will be nice if any work. The random door lock and unlocking is only an irritation.

But what about the power surges like I have cruise control and started up a hill? Is is okay to ignore and just be alert to brake? or serious symptom? I worry about being distracted and someone/thing infront of me. No AC, cruise, d-frost or anything I can tell is operating. I haven't even been touching the accelerator a couple times.

thanks again

sounds like your car has a serious issue. I would consider anything that has a sticking throttle, a serious issue. VERY unsafe.

I don't think my car is worth more than repairs. A big truck rammed me at high speed. aFTER 30 HOURS SEARCHING:mad:and all your help. What I need now is how do I empty the trunk? is there a way through the back seat or do I need 'jaws of life' to get it open?:help:

thanks

Could your "horn" issue be related to a moosing, reverberating sound? search for "moose", "moosing" or the "TH fix" (throttle hang fix) and see what that does for you.

Try the TH fix for the hanging throttle, and the moosing sound (if it is, indeed, not the actual horn...) the moose could EASILY be confused for a horn to a new user.

A short makes more sense as it blares as I start or kill engine only and only in cooler weather. Had forgotten over the summer and does not blow when I push around the horn symbol. Had car 4years and only started last winter. I'll find out if it can even be fixed later today. I wanted to empty the trunk whether repairing or totalling. Is there any way to get inside when it is
smashed in by big truck?
Thanks again

It's a bit tricky if the trunk is smashed in, as the releases for the rear seats are in the trunk themselves. Thus, the only way in, officially, is through the trunk. I would start with a pry bar or a baseball bat and see if you can "persuade" the trunk to open. You could probably spring the latch on the seat with excessive force from inside, but I'd go the trunk route first.

As something easy to check first, have a friend hold the trunk release on the driver's floor, and see if that makes opening the trunk any easier. If not, skip straight to the pry bar or bat step described above.

Sorry to hear about your accident Escential. :( Hope you weren't injured!

Like LauraSVT said, try pulling the interior trunk latch and lifting the trunk lid first. When all else fails, pull out the pry bar.

Keep us posted.

It is total loss but looks not bad. I miss it already
I am quite fine, just that hit by a big red truck feeling :dizzy:
Welllll no little repairs after diggin them out. Wonder what they'll offer me. May be I should ask insurance for that champagne stick shift across town.
