OK, ordered a wideband from Joey at Nautilus. I have true duals. My question and concerns relate to the fact that the wideband will only be accurately reading one bank or the other.

How do I find out if

A. Both banks are running the same?
B. Do I need 2 widebands?
C. If the banks are running different, how do I fix that?
D. If they were running different would I have thrown any codes, how would car run, etc etc etc?

Any help concerning this would be helpful. I don't want to waste Warmongers time tuning the car with the wideband and datalogging if its pointless, or if its going to hurt my car cause the car is running different on one bank, follow me?

Thanks!

I will also like to add that I am a completely ignorant when it comes to the tuning aspects... so please be gentle with me!

do you have an H pipe or something installed? Most true dual setups I have seen on CEG have some sort of pipe that connects both streams. I don't know much about true duals, but if you had an H pipe you could weld a bung there and get a reading on both banks.

no xpipe or hpipe...

do some research on the x or h pipe. from what I have read it is useful, and would help you with the AFR issues.

Even if he went with an X or H pipe wouldn't the proper location of that be much to far from the engine to run the wideband? I am pretty sure that sensor needs to be fairly close to the heads so that I can achieve proper temp and function correctly.

FWIW it would be pretty random for a major event to take place on only one bank and not notice it. Even if you were not running true duals you still would not know which bank were at fault if something came up. I had to make this choice with my EGT gauge, which bank and which cylinder to run it off of.

I think you still stand to benefit from one bank tuning. If something came up I would imagine you would feel, see, smell it without the gauge.

That gauge is great but unless you are boosting the car I think Tom will be able to give you a fine tune and you wont have to hawkeye that gauge every time you get on the gas.

Interesting question, but I don't suspect it'll be a big problem.

I could be wrong, so somebody please correct me if I am. Here's my theory:

Once the tuning is done the fuel mix is based on input from each of the two upper O2 sensors, the only real variable will be the performance of those two sensors relative to each other. Fresh O2 sensors, fresh UIM/LIM gaskets, & an intake tract free from leaks and you should be fine.

THe guys I know that have AFR setups in mustangs Only run one....I would think both banks would have simalar out put.

i jsut know that haveing different exhaust backpressures, which i may ahve due to piping length, turns, etc etc might effect it, but i didnt think by much...

im going to basically do some datalogging on both banks, and see how different they are, and if they arent that different, no harm no foul!
