I Got A 1998 Ford Contour 4 Cylinder 2.0l Well I Thought It Was Single Overhead Cam But It's Says VCT[Vertical Cam Timing] So I Was Happy That My Friends Said I Had A Good Car And I Was Wondering If I Should Put The Money Into It And Its Got 149,000 Miles On It..

If you like Contours save your money and go for a SVT. Sounds like yours may have seen better days, but dont be worried many Contour have seen well over 200k. Congrats and Welcome!

Actually VCT stands for "Variable Cam timing" and that particular system is located on the exhaust cam gear to assist in emissions, it also supposedly gave the motor more power/torque and better fuel economy.

Your motor is a DUAL over head cam, SOHC is for babies (CoughHONDAcough), the good news for you is that the I4 contours were very low maitence compared to the V6, its cheaper and easier to work on. As you can see, my zetec has 166K miles, and I just checked my mileage today, I was averaging 29 MPG half city and half freeway, minor work will keep the motor going, the only thing I think you should be concerned about failing is the timing belt, other than that its regular repairs from there.
