View Full Version : datalogging -- what to expect from the knock sensor?

I thought this question might fit in in this tuning forum... sorry if it doesn't.

I was curious about the knock sensor. I'm getting possitive and negative readings from it. Looks like the possitive numbers will keep the timing from increasing (with slight retarding), while negative severely retards it. Is there more to it than that... am I missing something?

I don't think anyone really knows what the knock sensor data means. lol :rolleyes:

The problem is that you don't know how the PCM is interpreting the sensor signals. Sorry. If you figure it out though then please tell us.

I have a few excel sheets saved of my datalogging with my knock sensor on there. I was having other issues, but I will post them if people are interested in seeing them.

I was at altitude at the time, and running lean for some reason (one of the issues). My tune had added timing (thats it), but 5* or less. My knock sensor was all over the place.
