I got my tune from Tom and Joey at Nautilus. Great guys, great price! Thanks! Quick question....How important is it to pull the fuses for the fuel pump and fans before you upload? I did it, no biggy, but curious for the reasoning.

I will post more about the tune, after more time with it.

On my 98.5 SVT, when uploading a tune, my fuel pump runs the entire time while flashing. Not sure why, but it does.

I think the concern is draining the battery since if you lose power while flashing you better just call a tow truck to haul it to the stealership.

same here!:o

and my fuel pump doesn't run while flashing, i think from the manual it states it is only required on the 97 and earlier models if i remember correctly.

yeah
The only reason for this procedure to avoid the battery voltage from sagging low. If you ever had a battery low on voltage charge it first before installing the xcal2. It had happen to me before but all I did was put a charger on the caar and the xcal2 corrected the problem. basically you lose info between the transfer of info and then the car will not start. Joey

could this be my problem, low voltage while loading a tune? i keep getting the pats to flash a code 16. pats not communicating with pcm. when i loaded the tune though, it started fine and drove fine. but that night the car stalled and would not restart. just flashes pats light and wont start. i hooked reeb's xcal to even see if i could clear codes and the moment i turned the ign. to on the xcal shut off. this is now 2 xcals that shut off with the key on.

Cant you just flip the Fuel Cut off switch to cut out the fuel pump? I think its down by the pedals on the driver side.
