Recently I had taken apart my dash and found that where the SVT buttons for the rear defroster are, there is a plug next to it in the blank dummy on the right side. On the mondeos I noticed they have a rear defrost button like ours, but also have a front defrost button where ours has a dummy blank. So my question is this.... Since the wires and plus are there for another button, if I got the mondeo part, would the wiring for that button, where there currently is no button? And would that give me a front heater? or something like heated mirrors??
i always thought it was for traction control on non svt cars.

that is it, you can also note the the rear defroster switch is on the opposite side also when you have tc iirc

Not to mention I highly doubt they installed a heated windsheild over here when there is no option for it.

There were a handful of SVT's with TC.

Everything I've heard is that maybe there was one SVT with TC.

a few of the really early 98's had it. and there wasnt a switch to turn it off. I remember reading a couple of threads on it.

Well.... it would of been sweet wouldn't it, if they would of installed a heated front windshield thing and not put a button there. I guess this is what i'm down to, I got the wires there, and I assume there is probably a spot in the fuse box for it, suppose if i were to get a button and fuse it would add that turn off option? I guess it wouldn't really be a point to having it, unless it would help me drive in winter..... Which i've never had a problem with before, and never had a vehicle with TC yet....

If you don't have factory traction control you don't have the ABS module for it.. you'll have the wriing there for it as it's inlcuded in the other wires for the one harness that goes to the defroster, but it is 99% impossible to add traction control to your SVT. They do not make the appropriate module to work with the LAter SVT's, as it's been said by many on here and a Ford Dealership I called.

Ok first off it is the defrost for the windsheild.
As an option the Mondeo could have all climate controls with buttons. Where our clock's are they had push buttons to control air flow through the vents, floor, or both as well as A/C on/off. I saw one setup like this in a picture somewhere... I can't seem to find it though.
I actually bought one of those defrost buttons to turn into a fog light switch.

I'd like to get 'hold of one of those switches for a special project I'm working on. Where are they available now?

What are you guys planning on doing?? Kind of interested. As far as the switches you have to search eBay. That is where I got mine from.

Traction control is a device that works with ABS.. yes, you have ABS, but you don't have "reverse abs" per se...
there is a guy in the uk (scotland) who fits a coloured led in the switches, he sells them on ebay heres the link

Interesting!
I doubt I have it, though... I can definitely spin my tires
Plus my ABS system goes haywire when the tires are spinning a lot, say up a 9500ft snow packed pass :ponder:
Kinda sucks going down said pass (which happens to be the continental divide) without ABS...

Need the switch for a small, unique, non-florescent lighting project.
If I like the look, I'll share pix, how-to & what not...

I actually planned to use an overdrive switch on the AT shifter in my RX-7 like that - once I got the V-8 and appropriate tranny installed there would be no need for the overdrive switch. Unfortunately, the car got rear ended REALLY bad.

And there you have it folks. Although I'm guessing this is on a pre 98 vehicle judging from the center console.
I think the post 98's got buttons that looked identical to the defrost buttons for the rear window.
